Melissa recieved the BioE Outstanding Advisor award at this year’s graduate recruiting event! This is the second time Melissa has won this award (previously in 2012), and she will give a talk about her career journey during the annual BioE Day in May. Congratulations Melissa!

A huge congratulations to Josh Lewis for successfully defending his PhD thesis today! His thesis is titled “Genome-scale modeling of redox metabolism and therapeutic response in radiation-resistant tumors”. Awesome work Dr. Lewis, and we wish him the best of success as he prepares to return to medical school!
Congratulations to Josh for placing as runner-up in the 2019 Suddath Student Award competition hosted each year by the Petit Institute. This is the most prestigious internal award at Georgia Tech across all bioengineering and biosciences PhD students. Josh receives a $500 cash prize!

Congratulations to Dan Zhang for winning this year’s best abstract award among the Bioengineering Ph.D. students! Dan will receive a $150 cash prize and give an oral presentation during the BioE day on May 9.
Bryce McKinney won a silver medal in the Atlanta Public Schools Regional Science Fair for his project entitled “Bioelectric and redox characteristics of mESCs along cardiomyocyte differentiation”. Bryce is one of our Project ENGAGES students, mentored by Andre Norfleet. Congratulations Bryce!
